Devil in the White City

by Erik Larson

DC Takes you back for a vivid visit to Chicago 100 years ago.  This is a book of fascinating contrasts: the fantasy of the World’s Fair and the gritty reality of life in Chicago, great men like Daniel Burnham and sickening psychopaths like HH Holmes.  A good book for summer vacation.

MW The mass-murder story was a little too creepy, but the story of the fair was very interesting.
